Three Outfits: Three Different People

Take Your Pick

I hope you all are having a wonderful day! I have spent the majority of my day in the library (aka I've been in the same spot for the last 5 hours working on my new assignment for my public speaking class) after I got done with my work study at 3PM  ( did I mention that is in the library as well?)

If I had to choose out of these three outfits it would be highly difficult for me since I really like all three of the outfits.

Have I ever mentioned I love to write? On that note I am going to do a bit of creative writing and make up stories about each of the three outfits and the type of female I could see wearing them.

Want to play? Let me know which you like most and maybe I will elaborate on that outfits story making up more about her as I do more Polyvore outfit posts.

Alright. Here we go:

Outfit One: One is a art student from New York City. She wants to someday run her own art gallery and feature a wall of her paintings inside. She is fluent in French and visits Paris often. She has a classic style but twisted at times to make it quirky and her own. She also likes taking pictures and is interested in photography. She loves NYC and someday wants to live there.

Outfit Two: Two is a Industrial Design student living in San Fransisco. She likes music, concerts, drawing and skateboarding. She has a edgy style and loves to mix it up. Today she has a date with a male friend at a starbucks in between her classes. She wants to look cute and feminine but adds the harder black details as to not loose her edgy side. Did I mention she has a black belt in Karate?

Outfit Three: Three is a Louisiana Sorority girl studying biology. She wants to become a scientist after she graduates grad school and then eventually she wants to get a doctorates degree. Don't like the super girly look fool you, she plays variety tennis and runs marathons. She loves to be funny and full of surprises, which is why she always enjoys telling people she is a biology major (everyone goes whaaattt?!).

Alright so there are my three outfit characters. Hope you enjoyed this post!!

If you have not seen this movie [Eat, Pray, Love] OMGSH WATCH IT.
(I just realized my hand was covering the Eat, but oh well)

This movie is FANTASTIC- probably my favorite movie ever and its also a book. I really want to read the book. And Julia Roberts is just amazing overall. She is just perfect.

So if your not doing anything tonight, definitely watch this. I found it for $5 at target and have been wanting to buy it for months so I scooped it up even though I think my mom had got it for me for my birthday but thats okay :)

Anyway. Thats all. :)

Hope your having a wonderful day!!!

January Challenge

Thursday, January 16, 2014

[this is a lot to read I know, so if your willing to stick with me- grab some coffee or tea and join/listen to  the challenge I'm giving myself.]

I am sitting here in our campus' bookstore/starbucks/lounge area with a short latte from Starbucks and  the November, December and January issues of Vogue. Oh, with a small block of sticky notes as well because I love marking pages that are inspirational in magazines while I am reading.

I also have notecards for a speech that I have to give tomorrow that I should be practicing...
and my phone for some odd reason... died. So its not that odd- but its attached to its charger and keeps turning on then shutting back off, over and over and over and over and over.... and repeat. So thats weird.

I also just got back from yet, another, trip to CVS. I bought a few things I needed, bobby pins, hair pins (yes there is a difference); and then made some impulse purchases, aka 2 notebooks for the spring semester in two weeks (although that isn't so impulse-ish because they will be used for school purposes ha) and then a Essie nail polish in "On a Silver Platter". The color is totally gorgeous don't get me wrong, but I had a interesting conversation with myself on the way back to my dorm room.

Kelsey! Okay- so the whole point of this post in the first place was to discuss with you what I was thinking about on my way back to my dorm from CVS. And what was that? - it was simply that I have a lot of stuff. Stuff.

I bought the items from CVS with some cash my grandmother sent me in a card earlier in the week, and some that I already had. And as soon as I walked out of the store I started bashing myself. 'Why did you buy so much?' 'Did you really need all that?' 'You should be saving for Paris' 'That could go towards that Michael Kors tote that you want'. You might be like- well that doesn't sound like that much Kelsey. Well, I already have enough notebooks for the spring semester but they are only 1 subject and I write ALOT use up a lot of space when taking notes in class, so bigger ones were needed but could I have gotten along without them- I suppose so. & the nail polish, its soo pretty but I could have gone without it probably. So I was walking and sort of just went "I have too much stuff".

And does this stuff make me any happier? In a way I guess, but not in a way that I'm REALLY happier. Its just stuff.

So I'm thinking of trying something so I don't keep spending the money that I should be saving. A challenge of sorts. I should have started this at the beginning of January for a 2014 challenge but better late then never right!? And its still January... so.

But anyway- I'm simply going to challenge myself to NOT spend money on ANYTHING unless I really need it. And by 'really need it' I'm talking about like food and cleaning supplies or bandaids. Items like that, which I really need to replace when I use up. I need to stop buying extra items and making impulse purchases. Because truthfully its just emptying my wallet not improving my life.

So you might have heard of something called Minimalism. Its something that I have been reading about for months and really want to get involved with (&I believe I might have mentioned it in a blog post awhile ago). It might go along hand in hand with the idea of not buying anything. If you don't know anything about minimalism click this link here. Its a article that I keep reading over and over.

I have been wanting to get rid of the majority of my stuff for months. If you looked at my room at home then my room at school... you would wonder how all that stuff fit into my room at home. My room at home doesn't even look like I made a small divot into it when I packed for college, and personally I find that kinda pathetic now.
I have been thinking about it though and if I do go through with this of sorts I feel like I would not have issues of getting rid of things all except for my clothes. So I'll start with everything else, then I will work on my closet once my life has less clutter. I mean do I really need two dressers and a walk in closet for my clothes? Some would say yes, and some would say no. Just depends on who you are.
I go home the 24th for a few days. I'll start on my room at home when I get home. Getting rid of as much as I can in addition to the clothing that I have there at home, should be a interesting challenge. I just have to let go of things. I mean.. they might have sentimental value of sorts but in the end they are just 'things'. They won't mean anything after I die someday.
&I need to think about quality over quantity.

Oh and tonight our school is having a 'freshman required event' and normally I wouldn't go but something inside is telling me too. The flyer says "Your Life Is Too Short To Suck At What You Are Doing..." they might be talking about academics but maybe this could apply in other ways.

Ready for a change?

[Lifestyle] Resolution # 3: Get More Exercise

Saturday, January 11, 2014

Its Quite Simple Really

So this post isn't really for anyone in particular; mainly just for myself to look at when I look back on my blog. An exercise blog post/letter to myself? Sure, that works.

Its my 2014 resolution #3 to 'Get More Exercise'; oh dear, guess who hasn't worked out once yet? This girl.

I should probably mention before anyone asks "Well Kelsey, what about rowing?"

about that...

I decided rowing wasn't for me this semester. I have multiple reasons but the biggest two would be that 1) it interfered with my work study too much, and since I am saving for Paris my work study money is important since its my personal pocket money while I am here at school. 2) I got decent grades, and my parents are proud but I had one C+ and was only a few points from a low B, but I don't like the idea of having a C on my transcript. This college transcript will effect if I get a job or not and I didn't like having the C on there. Although doing a sport is impressive, I wasn't there at Uni to row.

My plan is to see how spring goes, see if I can improve my grades even more, and if I can handle it I may consider trying row again in the fall. I feel kinda depressed about it since I loved it so much, but I spent all christmas break bawling about it to my mom and worrying about it. I do miss it. I think just being sad about it is why I haven't been hitting the gym like I normally would- I LOVE working out and I know how great I feel afterwords but I'm sad about row, so I am forcing myself to go to the gym after my class on monday before my work study, just to blow off some steam. I know I will feel better afterwards. I don't like quitting things; which might be a part as to why I'm sad about it, I don't want to be labeled as a quitter, but I shouldn't care too much about what others think. I waste so much energy caring about that as a fashion major, I'm always bashing myself about it so I just need to move on with my life. I can still have fun with the rowing girls and work out.

So anyway- my point was that its day 11 (almost day 12 because its 11:16PM as I type this) and I haven't worked out yet. But I should realize my goal doesn't say to 'loose weight' or 'be a size 8/9 by 2015' or whatever its simply to work out more. So Starting monday I will try that; just to work out more to make myself feel better and be healthy. Not to loose weight, but to be HEALTHY.

The above polyvore image was just to inspire me to get to the gym; I am constantly pinning stuff on pintrest to my Fitness board, which is motivating but seeing it on my blog is even more motivating.

I'm not sure if this post will help anyone, but if your like me and feel like your already falling behind on your resolutions realize, your not alone. and don't give up because you will feel better in the end. Even if its only a couple times a week your still lapping everyone on the couch.

XOXO

Kelsey

p.s. I'm sorry if I sound sad in it, but after writing it I feel a lot better! I just figured that since I'm not perfect and I like to put happy stuff on my blog and i'm not always happy I should show that I'm more rounded than what you see here online. Obviously no one is perfect. Remember that.

Small CVS Haul

Friday, January 10, 2014

Hi everyone- You survived to Friday! I feel like this week went by SO SLOW for me. I don't know about anyone else but it was kinda ridiculous actually. I got back from lunch today and my roommate was in our room talking away on her phone so I send a couple of emails and them ended up taking a walk to get out of the room and get some fresh air, and ended up at CVS so I bought a couple of things that I have been eyeing up but didn't get with christmas money.

What I found really funny is that all of these items my younger sister has, which is how I tried them in early december and decided to purchase them when I got back to school.

I've only used Emma's bottle of this a couple times but I really wanted to purchase  a bottle and try it because I love the look of sexy beach hair.

Emma had the green eye version of this and I've been needing a new back eyeliner pencil for my tight line so I decided to get it.

I've heard so many good and wonderful things about this mascara and my Maybelline Falsies is about empty, so I picked out a new mascara!

Emma has this as well, (wow I'm buying all the same products as my YOUNGER sister did- thats a switch on things!)  and I know this stuff is amazing so I decided to purchase it.

Actually the day I got back to school (Last sunday) all my makeup was packed away in the car and I used the mascara and under eye concealer above, of Emma's, and my mom complimented me of how pretty I looked and she laughed when I told her I used Emma's makeup. It was quite amusing.

& Actually this is the first time I have purchased Physicians Formula so I am really excited!

Happy Friday!

All the illustrations- OMGSH amazing....

My illustration using SketchBookCopicEdition
(Using the Wacom Pad. This was done on my computer. I'm still working on the technique).

My hand drawing with Pencil.

I thought I would do a second quick post for today and show two different versions of a illustration that I did today; The paris inspiration post was short so I thought this would add something else to your blogroll notifications (or however that works).

Stay warm-

I'm just a little obsessed...

Paris

I'm just a little obsessed. okay that's a lie- i'm obsessed VERY MUCH.
I'm back at University, and its SO COLD. All of the public schools around us have cancelled school for tomorrow since it will be -28 degrees. I would SO rather be in warmer weather right now. I decided to do a little pick me up and do a post on Paris. I will do a post all about where I will be visiting and all that when it gets closer to my flight and travel days.

hope all is going well- expect more posts soon ;)
