The Cut

Saturday, November 30, 2013

Well here it is. I made the CUT. I cut off almost 9 inches of my long blond hair in honor of my Aunt (She is a breast cancer survivor).
My hair is going to be donated to the Pony Up cause to make free wigs for cancer patients (<<check out the link!!)
To be quite honest. I love the length. My mom said it makes me look older, and I think that its fresher and looks healthier on me.
So I did it- and to be quite honest I am so shocked that I actually DID do it. Its a big moment for me and I am glad I was able to share it with everyone here on my blog :)

What do you think? :)

I can't wait to straigten it! And gosh It will be so pretty when its curled :)

Christmas Wish LIist 2013

Friday, November 29, 2013

Because I am going to Paris in May 2014  I asked my Aunt for a Paris Laptop Skin for my computer! I am obsessing over all things Paris recently and can't wait to embark on my first trip to Europe. And it definitely won't be the last ;)
Clothes! Well- I asked for gift cards so I could pick out clothes that I really like :)
Wacom Pad! I asked my parents for a wacom pad for chirstmas this year. Each year my sister and I are allowed to pick out a "bigger" present. Usually its something technological. Last year I received a smart phone, and the year before that my sister and I received Kindle Fires right when they came out! (My mom said they are now on sale for $79 at lots of retailers. I HIGHLY recommend getting one for somebody as a Christmas gift! They are ALOT easier to use than nooks.) But anyway- about the wacom pad. I've asked for one to do my fashion illustrations on. And since I am picking up a graphic design minor it would be useful to become familiar with those programs.

Thats mainly what my list is this year.
Not much but thats fine with me!

OH- I did do a bit of black friday shopping today! Should I do a haul?

Hope your day was fantastic!

OHHH BTW- The big day is tomorrow! I am cutting my hair tomorrow. Most likely! :)

XOXO

Since I am going home  for thanksgiving in 4 DAYS. I decided to do a "Thankful Thinking" post- and what does that mean? It means I am just going to keep this post as a draft till Thanksgiving (and today is Friday November 22), filling it with as many things as I can for which I am thankful for then I will post it on thanksgiving! • I'm thankful for our new car. (my dad and I were in a accident about a month ago while he was bringing me back from school to our house. Our car was totaled but my daddy and i, as well as everyone else are fine and none were hurt so I am super thankful for that)
  • My good health so far this school year
  • My phone so I can call and text my mommy everyday
  • My laptop. Its a necessity to me and i am thankful for the hours i had at work to be able to pay for it
  • my favorite blanket that my grandma made me. Its my favorite and I am under it right now!
  • My bible. This should go up^ further next to church, but these aren't really in any order!!
  • My legs- for how strong they are and for the fact they carry me when I am rowing or urging or just walking to class
  • my arms & fingers and hands
  • I am thankful for having awesome college professors
  • Hot cocoa
  • hot water for long showers after a intense workout
  • HAIRTIES- so silly but with long hair its true
  • I am thankful that my family is doing well (without me ahahha)
  • I am thankful that my Grandma is doing better with her health
  • For random "I miss/love you" texts from my good friends from home
  • I am thankful for my artistic capabilities
  • for the workouts that I do everyday for rowing
  • I am thankful my body is getting used to handling the workouts its now experiencing

  • headphones/earbuds
  • MUSIC <3 <3 <3 <3 I would not survive workouts, or pretty much anything with out it
  • Speaking of music I am thankful for my Hearing!
  • And my sight. Because even though being up at 5 is annoying when we get done around 7:10 its always super pretty outside
  • my Thinking capabilities- where would I be without them?!
  • bed mattresses. So comfy and I appreciate them after I lay on a comfy bed after a intense workout
  • my rowing coaches- they are super nice and very motivational
  • song lyrics that seem to put my life into perspective

  • I am thankful for being sore because it shows that I am actually doing something right for my body
  • I am thankful for the fashion industry in itself because It means I have a job with my degree
  • I am thankful for nail polish- because I can't stand when my nails are not painted!
  • I am thankful for my memories. Some good, and some bad but those moments made me who I am so for that I should be thankful
  • My dorm room. Its small yeah. BUT I am about 98% sure that it could be ALOT worse if I had gone to a different college
  • I am thankful for MAIL. I LOVE Getting mail while I am here at school. Checking my mailbox and having there be something inside just makes me so happy!
  • Transportation. From getting home in our car to being able to go on the bus from school to the mall- I am thankful that its there and a safe way of getting around the city
  • Friendship. I feel like this goes along with having friends but yeah- for example my roommate and I had a bit of a argument yesterday but today (Sat. Nov 23) we are fine and like even took the bus and went to the mall today and it felt like we hadn't even argued about anything! I am thankful that we aren't still in angry mode. Ya know?
  • Colorful pens! <3 Keep me organized and everything looking pretty
  • My agenda- where would I be without you?
  • My favorite cartoon character ever... SCOOBY DOO <3 He makes me so happy
  • The feeling I get after a tough work out (my 5K today- Monday, Nov 25). The satisfied, exhausted feeling that I crave
  • Germ-X... enough said
  • water bottles. I never thought much of this till I got here to school. The water in my dorm doesn't taste the best, and the water fountain I really like is a long walk down a couple of hallways in the dorm. So starting in October my parents have been buying me cases of water that I keep under my bed, and I normally drink 1-2 bottles a day which is good because you need to drink lots of water- but as a athlete they are SUPER amazing to have handy. I've gone through I think maybe 4 cases of 24 since october and AHH I just love having the water bottles so much. YES- I DO recycle them too :) hehe
  • I am thankful for the opportunity to row- its so weird of me to keep saying 'athlete' this and 'athlete' that but i mean... I am... its just weird to say. And So therefore I am thankful that I was able to join the team and am capable of keeping up with the other girls & I am just so thankful that I can really dive into this sport (HAHA) and do well in it. In high school I did sports yeah, but i never felt the way about those sports as the way that I feel about rowing. Its just so incredible for me and its crazy amazing.
  • My voice- I had a speech today. -.- UGH but I am thankful that I have a voice to give a speech even though I dislike speeches ALOT
  • My ever evolving case of wanderlust because it has me yearning for new things and new adventures that are bound to come my way
  • The blisters that are showing on my hands where my oar sits. Its showing me that I am working hard at rowing.
  • I am thankful for my Grandparents- My grandpas face when I gave him his birthday present tonight was priceless.
  • For my BLOG & WONDERFUL readers!! <3 <3 <3 <3

Okay so it is now thanksgiving day! So HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

Hope your day is wonderful- enjoy the time with your families :)

& I am sure that this list is not everything. This was what I came up with over the past 4 or 5 days :)

Can You Hear Me Knocking?

Can You Hear Me Knocking?

To be honest this Polyvore post really isn't about anything. It just kinda turned into a winter inspiration board of sorts.

Some may argue the outfit is more fall than winter inspired but during the winter I'm more for comfort and being warm and fall colors during the winter are fine in my book. I can't afford to go out and buy a "winter" wardrobe. My fall and winter clothes overlap a lot.

So just a random polyvore post for you all then. Hope you like my winter inspired post.

After Workout Look

Cute For Class: After Workout Look

Hey Everyone!
About an hour ago I rowed my first 5K with a time of 24 mins and 22 seconds. Personally I think that this is a wonderful thing for me and my friend Taylor said that I beat her first 5K's time with my first one, so I am super excited for this :)

So this look is almost what I am wearing atm. Which, looking down at my shirt... it IS striped... just smaller stripes so that is pretty amusing actually.

BUT ANYWAY- my favorite yoga pants (that I am wearing as I write this) are from Old Navy so I went on a Old Navy spree in Polyvore. (This is in no way an affiliated post this is just my using Old Navy today because I like the yoga pants and have a lot of tee shirts from there.)  Everything in the image above is Old Navy except for the Bag which is from target, the braclet which is from Etsy and I didn't pay attention to wear the earrings are from- silly me.

So I put this look together for what I would wear after a workout to class. Yoga pants/leggings have become my staple since they are SO comfy and after a workout there is no way I want to try to put on jeans. So I pulled two different tops with coordinating scarves, and the grey sweatshirt off to the side is something that I would throw over on top of the tee shirt (with the scarf) If i was super cold.

Minimal yet pretty accessories, ( i LOVE this bracelet, i am a HUGE sherlock fan <3 ) and a backpack to hold all your books (mine in real life is a purple Dakine one and its AMAZING- let me know if I should do a review).

Okay- so thats all. I should go do some homework before I head over to the rowing room again. We have a nutritionist coming in to talk to us and get us on set meal plans so we stay healthy and eat better. I am so excited! I have a nutritionist at home and she is super helpful so i am looking forward to this!

I couldn't decide

I found the first two necklaces and was debating about which I wanted to choose for this look- then, silly me, I kept looking through more pages... then I really couldn't make up my mind. I feel that I would pick the 2nd one from the first row OR the second one from the second row. They are both so pretty- well they are ALL so gorgeous.

So dear readers, which would YOU pick to complete this winter look?

Mall Trip: OOTD

Saturday, November 23, 2013

Hey everyone! Today is my first college related OOTD (that you can see the outfit -- unlike the beach OOTD lol)! My roommate and I went to the mall and did some shopping (Want a haul? Leave a comment below!) and here is what I wore! Behind me is my closet door (on the right) and my roommates on the left. My laptop was sitting on my dresser and I figured well it might not be the best way to do the OOTD but atm its the best since I don't have a tripod or a great camera.

My pink hat and scarf were knitted by my Grandma.
My white cardigan is actually a thrifted find and my black leggings are from Calvin Klein ( a wonderful find from Ross ;) )
Boots are from Lands End
Charlotte Russe Watch
Necklace I bought at the mall today. From Rue 21. It was only $2 And i've been wanting a monogramed necklace for a long time so for $2 I was like YEAH!
Under my cardigan I wore a black tee shirt From Old Navy
AND GUYS! GUESS WHAT I DID! I GOT MY CARTILAGE PIERCED TWICE! I got it done on my right ear at Pagoda and my roommate got hers  done twice on her left ear. I was SO NERVOUS. At first I wasn't going to and she was going to get hers done but then the girl was like you should get yours done too! & now- i've been wanting to get mine done for a LONG TIME but have just been to scared to just simply do it and the girl was trying to make me feel better and convince me and then I thought of this quote I found while I was working out the other day ( I am always on pint rest when i am working out on the bike at the gym) that says something like "Instead of saying 'Well, maybe' say 'Hell yeah!'"
SO...
I did ;)

& BTW: It didn't actually hurt that bad- I was truly and utterly surprised !! So if your scared it isn't that bad. The 2nd one hurt a bit more than the first though because my ear was tender from the first one but that one wasn't that bad haha!
:)
And to be quite honest- I LOVE IT!

& I've been doing some 'soul searching' if you will- trying to figure out what the heck I want to do with my life and so on and so forth and I've been trying to discover who the hell I truly am- and I feel like doing this was a HUGE step in that. I mean- I got the piercing.. like for myself mine you because I am 18 so I did this without asking my mom which is a huge step for me! And for those of you who might be like WHAT YOU DIDN'T ASK?! -- YEAH. but HAY If she is that upset I can take them out. They are definitely LESS PERMANENT than a tattoo would be and I really really really want one of those.

So I now have my cartilage done, I am cutting my dear long hair off in a week, I am getting in shape because of rowing--
I am finally discovering who I am supposed to be <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

XOXO
